Why quartz chips
Quartz worktops are mostly crushed stone bound with resin. They’re hard, but edges and corners can chip if a heavy pan or tin hits them, and sink and hob cut-outs are weak spots.
How a chip is repaired
The chip is cleaned, filled with a colour-matched resin, built up to the edge profile, then cut back and polished to the same sheen as the worktop. On speckled quartz, the flecks are recreated so the repair doesn’t show as a plain patch.
Heat marks
Because quartz contains resin, a very hot pan can scorch or discolour it. Light marks can sometimes be improved, but deep discolouration may not fully disappear. Always use a trivet.
Cracks
Hairline cracks can often be filled. A crack where the worktop has moved may mean it’s not properly supported, which needs checking first.
DIY kits
Resin kits are available, but matching colour, pattern and polish by hand is the hard part. Send us photos for a worktop repair quote.
Every job is different. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you what we’d recommend for your bath, sink or surface.
