How we handle bath repair in Walton

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can usually use the bath the next day. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and people most often call us about chips from dropped bottles, tiles or tools and cracks and holes in acrylic baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Common questions in Walton

Does someone need to be in?

Yes, usually. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, and we’ll agree a time with you.

Do you protect the room?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking before we start, and clean up before we leave.

What guarantee do I get?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Usually, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

When can I use it again after the repair?

Usually by the next day, depending on the job. We’ll tell you the curing time before we leave.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Signs you need bath repair in Walton

Most bath damage starts with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows. Acrylic baths, on the other hand, tend to crack if they aren’t properly supported, usually near the taps or the waste.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • Rust spots where the enamel has gone
  • Damage caused while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips from dropped bottles, tiles or tools
  • Cracks and holes in acrylic baths
